Quick answers to the questions we hear most often on the driveway — from "which treatment is right for my dog?" to "can you do two in one visit?"
The right add-on depends on what you're solving for. Itchy, flaky, or sensitive skin? Start with Colloidal Oatmeal Scrub or Hypoallergenic Shampoo. Lingering odor (even skunk)? Odor Terminator. Dull, frizzy, or breakage-prone coat? Keratin Treatment for shine, Protein Treatment for elasticity. Shedding? Pair any bath with our De-shed.
If you're not sure, Helen does a quick skin-and-coat assessment on arrival and recommends the right combo — we never upsell treatments your pet doesn't need.
Yes — but only if the oatmeal is colloidal (finely ground into particles that actually bind to the skin). We use a colloidal-oatmeal formula blended with aloe vera, which calms redness and itch from allergies, dry air, or seasonal skin flare-ups.
It's naturally soothing and safe for daily-groomed breeds like Goldendoodles and Frenchies. Most dogs walk out calmer and stop the obsessive scratching within a groom or two. If the itching persists, we'll flag it on your PETCHECK™ scan so you can follow up with your vet.
Common signs your dog's current shampoo isn't working: scratching after a bath, pink or inflamed belly/paws, flaky skin, or watery eyes. Puppies, senior dogs, and breeds with sensitive skin (Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, doodles with pink skin) often do better on hypoallergenic.
Our formula is tearless, sulfate-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free, and pH-balanced with jojoba oil. If your vet has recommended a specific medicated shampoo, bring it along — Helen will happily use vet-prescribed products instead of ours.
They solve different problems.
Keratin smooths the coat surface — seals the cuticle, reduces frizz, adds mirror-shine. Best for long-coated breeds showing breakage, static, or rough texture (Shih Tzus, Maltese, silky-coated doodles).
Protein rebuilds coat structure from within — restores elasticity, reduces brittleness, improves comb-through. Best for coats weakened by over-bathing, sun exposure, or poor nutrition.
If your dog's coat is both dull and brittle, Richard (our Nash Academy-trained stylist) often recommends doing protein first and layering keratin on top — a two-pass finish.
Yes, and most clients who need flea/tick care pair it with soothing follow-up treatments in the same appointment. A common combo: medicated flea/tick bath → Colloidal Oatmeal Scrub to calm bite-irritated skin → full blow-out and fine-tooth comb check.
We check every pet for fleas and ticks before grooming regardless. For light infestations we can treat in-van ($45 shampoo + $75 sanitation); heavy infestations we refer to your vet first before rebooking.
Expect 3–4 weeks of visible benefit from a single application, depending on coat type and how often your dog swims, rolls, or gets bathed between grooms. Water-loving breeds (Labs, Goldens heading to Frisco Commons pool or Windhaven lakes) lose the effect faster.
Clients who book treatments every other groom — roughly every 4–8 weeks — see the most consistent coat quality. Most of our long-term keratin clients are on our Monthly Grooming Plans, which makes the every-other-visit cadence affordable.
Yes, with adjustments.
Puppies (12+ weeks, fully vaccinated): Hypoallergenic Shampoo, Colloidal Oatmeal, and Nose Butter are all safe. We skip harsher treatments like flea/tick medicated baths unless vet-directed.
Senior pets: every treatment on the page is safe, but Helen typically runs them shorter and uses low-speed drying to keep older dogs comfortable.
Pets with known skin conditions, recent surgery, or medications — please tell us in advance so we can coordinate with what your vet has prescribed.
Every treatment on this page is an add-on to one of our core packages (Bath & Brush, Trim & Tidy, or Cut & Style). We don't offer standalone treatments because most of the benefit comes from the full-bath-and-blow-out sequence — a pristine-clean coat absorbs conditioning treatments 3–4× better than a dirty one.
Pick the package that fits your pet's coat length and styling needs, then add one or more treatments at booking. Text (469) 636-5549 and we'll help match the right combo for your pet.
